Maurice Sendak, Author of Famed ‘Where the Wild Things Are,’ Dead at 83

The inimitable and irreplaceable Maurice Sendak, whose fantastical tales have captivated generations of readers young and old, has died at the age of 83 in Danbury, Conn., near his home in Ridgefield. The cause of death was apparently a stroke.
