As one stares at all the proverbial government regulation trains barreling down the proverbial tracks, there’s a new development from California that offers us a critical lesson in how dangerous both federal and state government “regulations” are. First, some recollections. Fact: California’s government-imposed electric system is so bad, the main supplier, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E),…

It’s easy to see how “principled” some members of the Republican Party are, as they suck away our tax cash for their growing salaries and work with Dems to feed their debt-drenched, Constitution-insulting federal leviathan. But sometimes one gets stark reminders of how vile and underhanded these characters are. Case in point, the Foreign Pollution Fee Act of 2023, from Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA…

Economist and economist historian Robert Higgs has shown that the statist strategy of creating or proclaiming an “emergency” which government must “address,” and for which politicians create new government programs or agencies, inspires the freedom-crushing “ratcheting effect.” These so-called “emergencies” give rise to new political offices and “programs" that never go away, even as more so-…

Heather Hollingsworth, of the Associated Press claims that two “transgender boys” are suing the University of Missouri over the university ending so-called “gender affirming care” (i.e. surgical and chemical mutilation subsidized by other taxpayers). Curious readers might wonder whether these are teenaged boys or girls, why the university is ending its “care,” and why the state-funded university…

Comparing the pro-Constitution position of the congressman who tried to revoke a federal mandate for what he deems automobile “shut-off” devices to the positions of colleagues who pushed and propagandized in favor of keeping it might be an exercise in, as Rod Serling said at the start of each “Twilight Zone,” seeing the “signpost, up ahead.” The signpost is a warning for more federal government…

In a positive move that can remind Americans of how easy it is for politicians to repeat errant terms and perpetuate self-claimed, unjust “power” over us, a federal judge just blocked the ATF from enforcing its so-called “arm brace ban” on any and all owners of the braces. Ruling for the US District Court in Northern Texas, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, walked a similar path as the Fifth Circuit…

The streets of San Francisco… They’re well known, not merely for being associated with the TV crime show that launched the career of actor Michael Douglas, not merely because Lombard Street is famous for being one of the curviest in the world, and not just because they are very hilly, overlooking the beauty of San Francisco Bay. Recently, they’ve become well known as sites of crime and…

The Biden Administration announced earlier this week that on November 15, Scamtrak Joe and Chinese President Xi Jingping will meet in the San Francisco "area," which might prompt American and Chinese citizens to ponder numerous important, oft-hidden, points about economics and freedom. And foremost among those thoughts might be the dark realization that a meeting of TWO human beings can affect…

The Supreme Court November 3 placed onto its docket the case of “National Rifle Association v. Vullo,” a slow-moving challenge to action taken by a New York state bureaucrat that, according to the NRA, infringed on the group’s ability to speak and engage in financial activity in NY. According to NRA filings, in 2018, then-NY Department of Financial Services Superintendent Maria Vullo intimidated…

Reports on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) accepting a challenge to the Trump-imposed so-called “Bump-Stock Ban” might inspire one to wonder which is more bald-facedly erroneous: the reporting on the issue, or the idea that the federal government can “ban” something such as a “bump-stock.” The AFP coverage is a case in point, offering this, in the first paragraph: “The US…
