You're on Your Own, Chicago: At Least 3 Dead, 24 Wounded in Weekend Shootings

Nick Kangadis | December 13, 2021

We’re coming to the end of another very long and violent year for the city of Chicago, and there looks like there’s no cure for the violence during Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s tenure. Then again, it should come as no surprise when the leader of your city places blame at the feet of business owners for not doing more to protect their establishments.

At least three people were killed and another 24 were wounded in weekend shootings across the Chicagoland area. This is slightly down in total numbers from the previous weekend, which saw at least nine people murdered and another 23 wounded.

Here are the names and ages of those who lost their lives over the weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Suraj Mahadeva, 26

Ralph Williams, 38

Unidentified Male, 40

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 304 people have been murdered and another 1,775 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021.

Just a note for all of you that keep up with our reporting on Chicago; I will not be continuing the weekly Chicago weekend shooting roundup in 2022. Initially, my motive for reporting on the violence in my hometown over the last few years was to bring attention to the situation so that, maybe, something will be done about it.

I see that effort is futile based on the ineptitude of the leadership in that city, so this will be the last weekly update on Chicago weekend shootings. At the beginning of 2022, I will post numbers comparing the last couple of years of data, but that’s about it.

It’s sad to say, because I love what my city once was, but you’re on your own Chicago.
