Woman Allegedly Made False Call to Police So She Could Drive Home Drunk

A woman in Wayne, N.J., allegedly called 911 and filed a false report just so police would be sent away from her location, allowing her to drive home drunk without being arrested.

Hayley Oates told dispatchers that a woman was being assaulted at a local bar and that the suspect was in a blue truck before abruptly hanging up. The 911 operator took no chances and called it in.

Oates then reportedly posted a taunting message on social media that reads: “lmao… 2 mins later the cop peals out… silly piggies tricks r for u.”

Using video evidence, police found that no such assault had occurred. They claim Oates had intentionally misled the dispatcher so she could drive without being arrested and charged with a DUI.

Police are furious over the Oates’ complete disregard of public safety.

“You’re misusing the system. You have 911 personnel that are answering the call. You have police officers that should be doing other things, are now responding to a call that’s false so that you can drive away drunk?” said Capt. Laurence Martin. “And then bragging about it on social media — that’s as dumb as it gets.”

Oates has been subsequently been charged with false reports to law enforcement and creating false public alarm.
