A Wisconsin state senator had some choice words for people who live in suburban America during a speech on the state senate floor this week. And by "choice words," I mean some pretty hateful ones - the kind legislators on the other side of the aisle couldn't get away with if they tried.

LaTonya Johnson, a Democrat representing Milwaukee, openly declared "f*** the suburbs" during her remarks in the state legislature this week, slamming people who live outside urban areas over their concerns that crime from the inner city is beginning to spill out into neighboring communities.

"They don't know a g*dd*mn thing about how life is in the city," she went on, before finally shutting her piehole and taking a seat.

After Johnson's comments sparked understandable criticism from those calling out her lack of decorum, fellow Democrats rushed to her defense. Democratic state Rep. Francesca Hong tweeted, spelling errors and all, “Senator Johnson spoke passionately to defend the communities she represents. Republicans who continuously weopanize and villinize the people of Milwaukee without accountability need to answer for constantly legislating racism. These absurd times in state gov call for real talk.”

Now imagine, if you will for a moment, how well it would have been received for a white male Republican lawmaker to take up the microphone to levy profanity at urban Americans. Think, for only a second, if a conservative legislator had stood there in full view of the state government and hollered, "F*** the city - they're a bunch of ignorant criminals who aren't worth a crap."

A second is about all it takes to know that would have gone over like a lead balloon.

Don't expect any consequences for Johnson, though. After all, liberal privilege is alive and well.
