A U.S. Navy admiral received a standing ovation for calling out Colin Kaepernick on his refusal to stand during the National Anthem.

At a ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor on Wednesday, U.S. Pacific Command Commander Adm. Harry B. Harris, Jr., took aim at the San Francisco 49ers quarterback at the very beginning of his remarks.

"You can bet that the men and women that we honor today – and those who died that fateful morning 75 years ago – never took a knee and never failed to stand when they heard our national anthem being played," said Harris.

He continued, “Hearing the words, 'The land of the free and the home of the brave,' mean something special for every American, every day. But today, on Dec. 7, it takes on extraordinary significance.”

Dec. 7 marks the 75th anniversary of Japan's attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor that killed more than 2,000 American soldiers and sailors and pulled the U.S. into World War II.

Japanese fighter planes managed to destroy hundreds of U.S. airplanes and sink nearly 20 naval vessels, including the USS Arizona where the memorial stands today.

Kaepernick has received widespread publicity for his decision to kneel during the National Anthem before NFL games in protest of police violence in the U.S.

It turns out that Kaepernick, as outspoken as he was with his high-profile National Anthem protest, didn’t even vote in the 2016 election.
