Watch: Lady Gaga's Amazing Performance With a Tribute to the 'Sound of Music'

Corwin Parks | February 23, 2015

There were a few different surprising moments from the 87th Academy Awards. We saw an Oscar go to Birdman Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) for Best Picture. We saw, as Yahoo put it, themost dramatic reading of the teleprompter” in an introduction to The Imitation Game by Terrence Howard. Let's not forget that Jullianne Moore finally won an Oscar.

And, Lady Gaga actually looked normal. Remember Lady Gaga’s egg suit?

What we saw at the 2015 Oscars was not the same Lady Gaga we all knew (and probably grew to dislike.) This Lady Gaga has matured, and we realized something else: she does have a BEAUTIFUL voice. Who would've thought?

She performed a medley in a tribute to the Sound Of Music, and did a fantastic job. It's surprising to hear her actually sing - it looks like these last several years she was just showing us her "Poker Face” and hid the fact that she could actually sing.

Carrie Underwood preformed the Sound of Music a couple of years ago and, while Gaga is no Carrie Underwood when it comes to raw talent, Lady Gaga sang it better. I know it's not easy to sing anything from the Sound of Music, but Lady Gaga definitely did not disappoint. She even blew away Julie Andrews, and that says a lot.
