Every year, the best young spellers from around the country, congregate to compete in the annual Scripps Spelling Bee.
Every single one of these kids is incredibly intelligent. Many of them are near or above genius level. But it takes more than a big brain to get on stage in front of thousands of people in an event that is broadcast on ESPN and compete for the title of America's spelling champion.
After watching some of the spellers easily knock out words that I had never even heard of, the competition was narrowed down to ten finalists.
MRCTV was there to talk to some of these finalists (including the two spellers who would eventually go on to win the tournament) and even got them to spell a few words that have been in the news recently.
