With President Obama preparing to make a nomination to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left, following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, MRCTV wanted to find out what Americans knew about the high court.
We traveled to a college campus and asked a couple of simple questions. We asked students at George Mason University in Virginia if they could explain the Supreme Court's function as a co-equal branch of the Federal Government.
We also asked if them if they could name a Supreme Court justice that was currently sitting on the high court, following Scalias' death. A few of the students could list off the names of several of the justices. But for the most part, students were ignorant as to the role of the court and who was currently sitting on the bench.
