In reaction to a NYC bill, Uber has done something to push back in a way that is both unique and hilarious. The bill seeks to limit the amount of new drivers transportation companies can hire and, thus, severely limit the growth of alternative transport businesses such as Uber. So as a retort, Uber added a “de Blasio” feature to their menu.

The “de Blasio” option would show clients that there were either no drivers available or wait times of 25 minutes. Instead of calling a car, the “de Blasio” feature asks users to take action and send a flood of e-mails to both the Democrat Mayor and the city council that opposes the new bill.

“Mayor de Blasio’s plan to stop Uber will cost 10,000 jobs, hurt underserved areas and make wait times for Uber cars skyrocket. With this view, New York City riders can see for themselves how much time this political payback to big taxi owners will cost them,” said Chief Advisor for Uber, David Plouffe.
