ISIS has used America’s refusal to strictly vet refugees from countries like Syria to infiltrate and threaten the U.S., Republican candidate Donald Trump warned in the third and final 2016 presidential debate, held Wednesday night.
Trump likened the ISIS ploy to that of the Greek Trojan Horse – and predicted similarly disastrous results:
“In many cases, ISIS aligned. And, we now have them in our country, and wait ‘till you see – this is going to be the Greek Trojan Horse – and wait ‘till you see what happens in the coming years.
What Trump said next prompted media like The Huffington Post, Slate and The Daily Mail to pounce on the chance to declare, “See Trump Knows/Admits/Concedes He’s Going to Lose!”:
“Lots of luck, Hillary. Thanks a lot for doing a great job. “
Then, came headlines like these:
- "Did Donald Trump Just Admit That He’s Going To Lose The Election?"
- "Donald Trump Seemingly Just Conceded That Hillary Clinton Is Going to Win the Election"
- "Does Trump admit he knows he's going to LOSE? Freudian slip of an answer wishes Hillary 'good luck' with immigration problem in the future"
But, the same three websites simultaneously used another Trump comment to post headlines declaring the bombshell that Trump WOULD NOT concede the election, even if he lost:
- "Donald Trump Refuses To Commit To Accepting His Forthcoming Election Loss"
- "Trump’s surrogates can’t defend his attack on democracy so they’re pretending it didn’t happen."
- "Trump's bombshell: He rocks final debate with Clinton by REFUSING to promise to accept the results after bad-tempered 90 minutes begins AND ends without a handshake"
So, which is it? Just watch, listen, and decide for yourself. Was Trump’s "Lots of luck" comment:
- A prophetic Freudian Slip?
- A concession?
- A prediction about Clinton’s ultimate legacy?
- Nothing more than a poor choice of words by someone in the heat of (verbal) battle?
