In case you missed it, last night’s Miss USA competition ruffled some feathers. When asked about health care reform and feminism, Miss USA winner Kara McCullough stunned audiences by claiming healthcare is a privilege, not a right, and adding that men and women have equal opportunity in the workplace.

Needless to say, the liberals on Twitter had an absolute meltdown:

Is the liberal reaction justified? If you actually watch Kara McCullough’s responses, you’ll find that they’re intelligent and well-reasoned.

On whether healthcare is a right or a privilege:

I'm definitely going to say it's a privilege. As a government employee, I am granted health care, and I see firsthand that for one to have health care, you need to have a job. Therefore, we need to continue to cultivate this environment that we're given the opportunities to have health care as well as jobs to all the American citizens worldwide.”

When asked if she considers herself to be a feminist, here was Kara’s response:

“As a woman scientist in the government, I would like to lately transpose the word feminism to equalism. I don't really want to consider myself -- try not to consider myself like this die hard, you know, like, oh, I don't really care about men, but one thing I want to say, though, women, we are just as equal as men when it comes to opportunity in the workplace.

Kara McCullough is a scientist from DC, and she defied the liberal groupthink on healthcare and feminism.  Given their meltdown on Twitter, it looks like she must have done something right!
