Tiffany & Co. Is Selling a $1,000 Tin Can, Seriously

New York-based luxury jeweler Tiffany & Co. is making waves for selling a tin can for $1,000

The luxury jeweler is famous for dealing in high-end, expensive items, but their brand-new (and ironically titled) "Everyday Objects" merchandise line, which features a literal metal can, is taking things to a whole new level.

Tiffany & Co. says on their website that their new line "transforms utilitarian items into handcrafted works of art." The tin can's description reads, "A classic tin can is upgraded in sterling silver and shining vermeil.

The material happens to be why the price tag seems to be so high -- if you didn't already know, vermeil is silver that is plated with a thin layer of gold. The tin can also has Tiffany & Co.'s signature blue in a stripe along the side.

The buyer also has the option to engrave "I paid $1,000 for this," if they would like people to know what kind of money they are willing to drop on a tin can.

Other items in the line include ping-pong paddles for $650, a yo-yo for $300, and a $9,000 ball of yarn if a silver tin can wasn't enough.
