Texas Judge: Voter ID Law Intended to Discriminate Against Minorities

A federal district judge and Obama appointee in Texas struck down the state’s voter ID law, calling it an “unconstitutional poll tax” intended to discriminate against minorities.

It’s “an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote,” U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos said in a 147-page opinion.

A survey from June 09, 2011, conducted by Rasmussen, found that 75 percent of those surveyed “believe voters should be required to show photo identification, such as a driver’s license, before being allowed to vote.”

In an MRCTV video, Dan Joseph hit the streets of downtown Washington D.C. to ask citizens what they thought about voter ID laws, and though Debbie Wasserman Schultz suggested otherwise, most of the people asked believed that voters should be required to show ID before being allowed to vote.
