A 19-year-old man died Saturday as the result of a wood chipper accident. Mason Fox had just got a job with his cousin for the Gastonia, NC based Crawford's Tree and Stump Grinding Service. It was his first day on the job.

A tree limb became lodged in the wood chipper. Cox tried to push it through but was pulled in. He was killed instantly.

The owner of the business, Jon Crawford stopped the machine immediately and put it in reverse, but it was too late. After the harrowing incident Crawford suffered a heart attack and had to be taken to the hospital.

Investigators determined the death was accidental.

Unfortunately, accidents involving wood chippers are all too common. A six-year-old was killed in 2012. Earlier this year a Davenport, Iowa man suffered the same fate as well.
