The Taliban has struck again, reminding us that ISIS isn't the only major player in the terrorist onslaught of death and destruction.
The afghani city of Kabul saw terror in its purest form Monday as the Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide attack aboard a minibus that so far has claimed the lives of 24 people.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
The minibus was carrying employees of the Ministry of Mines, an Afghan police official said. A security official said the death toll could rise to as many as 38 people[…]
The Taliban claimed on Monday it had targeted Afghan intelligence officers. However, the country’s intelligence agency doesn’t use minibuses to transport employees, according to security officials.
It seems as though the Taliban doesn’t have an intelligence agency of their own, otherwise they might have known that intelligence officials were not on the minibus, and innocent civilians might still be alive. Although, innocent people are typically the ones most often targeted by radical Islamic terrorists.
The Taliban has recently ramped up activity all around Afghanistan, according to a Taliban spokesman, claiming to “have toppled outposts in half a dozen Afghan provinces including Faryab, Ghazni, Ghor, Helmand, Herat and Paktia.”
This isn’t the first time recently that the Taliban allegedly attacked the heart of Kabul. A truck bomb exploded near foreign embassies back in May in a blast that killed at least 150 people and injured at least another 400.
