A college student is insinuating that “white logic” and “white women” are to blame after he was caught threatening to destroy a fellow student’s laptop because of her bumper sticker showing support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The New York Daily News reports Saint John’s University student Clifford Durand tweeted that if he received 7,000 retweets on his post, he would “smash” classmate Brianna Algazali's laptop.
The tweet from the now-suspended Twitter account accrued over 19,000 retweets (explicit content warning):
The Daily News alleges that after Algazali discovered the tweet, she started yelling at Durand and threw a drink on him.
The Daily News also claims that students saw Durand respond by striking Algazali. Allegedly, his Twitter also states he shoved her “in the neck.”
After the Daily News reported on the story, Durand accused the source of “LYING” on him:
Durand then moved on to sharing posts blaming “white women” and “white logic” for the incident being a big deal:
St. John’s responded by tweeting that that “this type of behavior will not be tolerated” and that safety is their “top priority.”
A tweet from an alleged fellow student, however, reportedly shows people telling Durand “they can’t f---ing hold you.”
