Original Story

Students at Stony Brook University in New York received text and email alerts informing them about an “unconfirmed threat” written in chalk on campus.

The text message sent from the university and obtained by MRCTV reads: “Stony Brook University advisory message for ‘chalk’ graffiti with non specific information and unconfirmed threat.”

The message also states anyone with information should contact the university police.

The email obtained from Stony Brook University Chief of Police Robert Lenahan claims there were “several instances of 'chalk' type graffiti on the academic mall for an incident that may occur today.”

“At this time there is no credible threat to the campus community or confirmed information and we are sending this message out of an abundance of caution,” Lenahan wrote.

Stony Brook University did not respond to MRCTV’s request for comment at the time of publication.
