There's a special place in Hell for someone who steals a dog.  Just today, it was discovered that more than 40 dogs were stolen recently in one Texas county over the last two months

But, fortunately, dog owners who fall victim to these dognapping monsters have finally found a way to outsmart these loathsome criminals.

Over the past two years, there have been at least 13 instances of dog owners locating their stolen canine companions by going on Craigslist and discovering that their dog is being sold by someone.  Here's a list of recent instances in which dog thieves were out smarted by web savvy dog owners and their friends.

These are the stories that have happy endings. But, keep in mind that if the unthinkable happens, Craigslist may be the place to go to track down your lost dog.
