Remember "Change you can believe in?" Well, nothing has changed in the state of Illinois since President Trump took the oath of office in January. State officials continue to obsess over former President Obama.

Last week the Illinois state senate voted to make the former president's birthday an official state holiday. Not kidding.

Senate Bill 55 designates August 4th (Obama's birthday) to be "observed throughout the State as a day set apart to honor the 44th President of the United States of America who began his career serving the people of Illinois and the United States Senate and dedicated his life to protecting the rights of Americans and building bridges across communities."

Earlier this summer, the state legislature voted to rename a major state highway the "Barack Obama Presidential Expressway."

Meanwhile, Illinois is quickly becoming the least fiscally solvent state in the Union. The state is $15 billion in debt and have a mounting $251 billion in state employee pensions to pay.

The inaugural Barack Obama Day will be celebrated for the first time in August 2018.
