Shia LaBeouf’s anti-President Trump “He Will Not Divide Us” display has been shut down as a result of the art installation causing “serious public safety hazards.”

According to a statement from the Museum of the Moving Image, LaBeouf’s 24-hour livestream “resulted in an unexpectedly volatile situation and serious public safety hazards.” The museum claims the exhibit became “flashpoint for violence and was disrupted from its original intent.”

“Over the course of the installation, there have been dozens of threats of violence and numerous arrests, such that police felt compelled to be stationed outside the installation 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” they explained.

In January, LaBeouf was arrested after assaulting a man participating in the “He Will Not Divide Us” project. LaBeouf was charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment.

Page Six reports people living around the Queens exhibit complained of loitering, drug use, and public urination. Former Queens borough president Claire Shulman, a Democrat, even called the project a “mistake.”

She told Page Six, “It was a mistake to do it. It’s unsafe for a public institution to do a project like this.”

“It’s inappropriate for that location. It’s a city building. It’s a city institution. It’s one of the finest institutions in the city,” she continued.

Before the installation was shut down, it was meant for people to congregate to repeat “he will not divide us” over and over until the end of Trump’s presidency. According to the “He Will Not Divide Us” website, the artists behind the project have not given up:

“On February 10, 2017, the Museum of the Moving Image abandoned the project.

The artists, however, have not.”
