Former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) told ABC News that he will be announcing his bid for the 2016 presidential election on Wednesday.

According to ABC News, Santorum’s first interview as a GOP contender will be conducted by the network’s chief anchor, George Stephanopoulos, who it was just revealed made $75,000 in publicly undisclosed donations to the Clinton Foundation since 2011.

"ABC News' Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos will sit down for an exclusive interview with Santorum this afternoon," writes the network.

"Santorum, 57, is set to reveal his presidential intentions at an event today in Cabot, Pa., near his childhood home. It will be his second run for the White House, almost four years after he won primaries and caucuses in 11 states and finished second to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican nomination."

Why the former Pennsylvania senator chose Stephanopoulos to interview him of all journalists remains unclear.

"Conservatives should avoid going on any ABC shows" because "ABC has no intention of being an objective news outlet," Media Research Center Pres. Brent Bozell said in a recent statement reacting to the network's decision not to pull Stephanopoulos off election coverage.

According to a recent poll, 46% of Americans want the ABC News chief anchor to stay away from 2016 election coverage given his ties to the Clintons as a foundation donor and former staffer for President Bill Clinton.
