Vice President Mike Pence was in Colorado Springs this past Friday to speak at Focus on the Family's 40th anniversary.

Pence congratulated the organization for their 40 years of service, saying they've "fearlessly engaged our culture and advocated in the public square for the timeless values that our society needs to hear, now more than ever."

Of course, the Left was outraged at a sitting vice president speaking for a Christian ministry that helps families "according to morals and values grounded in biblical principles." To show their displeasure, Pence was greeted by a flock of "handmaids"  -- women dressed like slaves from the feminist novel The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

This is not the first time the vice president has been compared to a leader in the fictional republic of Gilead. Deputy director of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio once said, "The Handmaids are forced to give birth and, in so many cases, because of all the restrictions on abortion access, women in Ohio and across the country are being forced to give birth."

Because supporting life and traditional marriage is tantamount to wanting to enslave an entire class of women, apparently.

The LGBT community also did not take too kindly to the vice president's speaking venue. An article on LGBTQ Nation went after Pence for "turning his back" on Pride month by speaking for a Christian organization that supported the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 1996.

There was nothing on whether former President Bill Clinton -- who actually signed DOMA into law himself -- is considered a traitor of the LGBT cause.
