Afghan officials are reporting that Mullah Omar, who sheltered Osama Bin Laden following the attacks of September 11th, 2001, has died.
Following the attacks, a worldwide search for Omar commenced, but he was never located.
While U.S. officials could not immediately confirm Omar's death, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani recently thanked Omar for endorsing the peace talks, which began earlier this month in Pakistan.
Until his death can be confirmed, the U.S. State Department is keeping in place the $10 million reward for information leading to Omar.
