Pres. Obama said Monday that the United States is to blame for the creation of the terrorist group ISIL.
In a video interview with Vice News, Obama called ISIL “an unintended consequence” and “direct outgrowth” of the U.S. invasion of Iraq – and warned the U.S. should be more cautious in the future:
“ISIL is a direct outgrowth of Al Qaeda in Iraq that grew out of our invasion – which is an example of unintended consequences. Which is why we should, generally, aim before we shoot."
