“There is no economic metric by which we are not better off than when I took office,” Pres. Obama declared yesterday. But, actually, there are at least these four. And, they’re pretty important.
In remarks to the House Democratic Issues Conference in Philadelphia, PA, Obama said:
“There is no economic metric by which we are not better off than when I took office. And that is because of the extraordinary will and dedication of the American people, but also because all of you have done a terrific job.”
But, a quick fact check shows at least these four important metrics have worsened under Obama:
- The number of Americans receiving food stamps is 45 percent higher than when the president first took office,
- The federal debt has increased $7,514,567,086,650.22--which is $65,443 per household, $70,985 per full-time worker and $84,266 per full-time private-sector worker
- The rate of home ownership has dropped by 3.2 percentage points, to the lowest point in nearly 20 years.
- The average number of weeks that the unemployed have been without work was 32.8 weeks — which is 13 weeks longer than the average duration of joblessness for the month Obama entered the White House.
