During a Democratic fundraiser at the Richard Rodgers Theater in Manhattan on Monday, President Barack Obama mocked Republican presidential candidates for complaining about the current debate structure.

He argued that if the GOP candidates cannot “handle a bunch of CNBC moderators,” they will not stand a chance against Putin or China, the Chicago Tribune reports.

“Have you noticed that every one of these candidates says, ‘Obama’s weak. Putin’s kicking sand in his face. When I talk to Putin, he’s gonna straighten out,’” said the President.

"And then, it turns out, they can't handle a bunch of CNBC moderators," Obama fired.

"Let me tell you, if you can't handle those guys then I don't think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about it," he added.

Following the CNBC GOP primary debate last week, several candidates complained about the questions posed by the network's moderators and compiled a list of demands for both the Republican National Committee and TV networks to implement in the future.
