Heinous al Qaeda thugs plotted to take down a US airliner on the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death by using an upgraded version of their sneaky underwear bomb, authorities revealed yesterday.
The White House has confirmed that the President Barack Obama was briefed about the plot in April and directed the Department of Homeland Security and law-enforcement and intelligence agencies to take whatever steps necessary to guard against this type of attack. Yet President Obama kept the bomb plot secret from the public. In fact, in the days leading up to the anniversary of Osama bin Laden's death the White House assured the public there were no credible or specific threats against the U.S.
U.S. and other intelligence agencies thwarted the plot and have seized and explosive device that is similar to ones previously used by al Qaeda, officials said Monday. The foiled Fruit of the Boom 2.0 plot was likely the work of infamous the 28 year old Saudi born explosives expert, Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri, who was behind the failed attempts to blow up US planes in 2009 and 2010. Only the most sophisticated body scanners — and most alert TSA agents — could have detected the device.
Al-Asiri remains at large.Al-Asiri is believed to have hidden a similar device in his brother’s anal cavity in an assassination attempt on a Saudi official. The bomb killed his little brother, but the official survived.
Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to set the bomb off by injecting the condom with acid through a hypodermic needle, but it failed. Abdulmutallab is now serving life in prison.
The device was meant to be put on a U.S. – bound airline, US Rep. Peter King (R-NY) , chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told CNN Anderson Cooper. "This was a key victory for us. It also reminds us, though, that this war is not going to end in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda has metastasized and morphed. And they are constantly attempting to find new ways to get at us."
Foiling the plot did little to appease authorities who are outraged that they were kept in the dark on the dangerous threat.
“We should have been notified by the Joint Terrorism Task Force, but we were not,’’ a Port Authority official told The Post.
Meanwhile the Obama White House is secretly releasing high level Taliban detainees from Gitmo and a military prison in Afghanistan as part of negotiations with insurgent groups and to appease the Afghan government at the negotiating table.
That’s right. the White House has decided to set the terrorist free and not tell the American people after they’ve done it, the same Taliban members who harbored al-Qaeda in Afghanistan prior to the 9/11 attacks.
The President spoke about the U.S. government sitdowns with these terrorist last week and Afghanistan. He has basically declared the war on terror over.
"In coordination with the Afghan government, my administration has been in direct discussions with the Taliban. We've made it clear that they can be a part of this future if they break with al-Qaeda, renounce violence and abide by Afghan laws. Many members of the Taliban from foot soldiers to leaders have indicated an interest in reconciliation. The path to peace is now set before them.
Thanks to the Obama administration terrorist return to the battlefield, despite warnings by the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee about the growing strength of the Taliban.
It is perilously naïve to believe that the Taliban is going to be nice to America because we're releasing your enemy combatants back to them.
According to the a recent report by the Heritage Foundation, fifty terror plots have been foiled since 9/11. Nineteen publicly known terrorist attacks against the United States had been foiled since 9/11 in 2007.
Islamic radicals/fundamentalists, want to destroy, not only Israel, they pray for and are dedicated to witnessing the collapse of the United States. The Obama administration is releasing the enemies that we caught on the battlefield, giving them a ‘get-out-of-jail-free card’ on a naïve premise that they somehow they are going to be nice to us. What a wimpy move. We are giving the terrorist, committed to the jihad and holy war, who intend to suicide bomb themselves in the name of Allah, their believed life purpose, a second chance to strap bombs around their chest and blow us all up.
Terrorists who wanted to kill Americans because we have freedom of thought and religion and democracy, who keep women in bondage in Afghanistan, will suddenly be nice because we set them free. Why don't they instead get the death penalty like every other terrorist? Why not kill them? They are trying to kill Americans, aiming to make the entire globe Muslim.
Freedom of religion is essential to the future prosperity of humankind. Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the Taliban are extreme, but they are extreme in their piety, and because there is less freedom in terrorist plagued regions the citizens of these society are indocrinated their entire lives to hate Jews, Christians and commit suicide.
Liberals, and libertarians, all hammered President Bush about transparency on the war on terror throughout the duration of his presidency, but obvioulsy the Obama adminstration doesn't five a flying cow about transparency.
