President Obama’s new immigration plan is raising serious concerns that tax payers are going to be stuck with the bill.

The new plan to grant temporary work permits to illegal immigrants, who otherwise could be deported, may cost more than $585 million, according to internal documents from The Department of Homeland Security obtained by The Associated Press.

The immigration plan, that was not approved by congress and has not been budgeted, requires hiring over 1400 new federal employees or more to process the more than 1 million anticipated requests from these young illegal immigrants who want to stay in the country in just the first year.

The government is going to fund the cost of the plan by charging the illegal immigrants a fee of $465 each for the paperwork.

Janet Napolitano, who will be overseeing this program, told Congress many of the illegal immigrants may be  waived from the fee because they are going to look into hardship cases. The government could lose between $19 million and $121 million depending on how many applicants don't pay,  according to the Department of Homeland Security plans as reported by the AP.

Republicans oppose the plan saying those waiting in line, that didn't come into the country illegally, shouldn't have their applications delayed because the DHS now has to look at the application of the entire 800,000 immigrants who reside in the US illegally.

Not only is the taxpayer going to get stuck with this bill for essentially de facto amnesty, but now the government must expand  and hire more federal employees. Eventually citizenship will be part of the package once we go down this road.
