Seattle Seahawks quarterback and new dad Russell Wilson hosted the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards on Thursday.

Wilson, who became a dad 11 weeks ago to daughter Sienna Princess, brought along his stepson Future Zahir, his wife Ciara’s 3-year-old son with rapper Future, to the event.

In an interview with PEOPLE, he said that becoming a dad has been amazing, and that, “If I can be half the dad that my dad was, then I’m doing something.”

“I am grateful every day, and I thank God every day for bringing Ciara into my life, and our family and everything else,” he told PEOPLE.

The two were all smiles walking the orange carpet together.

“I think that you always love, and do anything around love,” Wilson added when asked how being a father has changed him. “That is the center focus of everything.”

Ciara and ex Future had a famously tumultuous relationship involving a lawsuit that alleged Future threatened Wilson and was negligent with his son Zahir.

All while dating Ciara and after marrying the singer in July 2016, Wilson has tried to be involved in baby Future's life as a father figure.
