When Susan Wood told her then-boyfriend that she was pregnant with his child, she recalls that he couldn't have been any more negative in his response. He told her that she had to have an abortion, that he couldn't handle another child. Unsure of how to cope with this new situation, she intially consented to his demand so as to avoid confrontation.
He left and she walked to a friend's Super Bowl party, alone. Though she was surrounded by people at the party, none could perceive the harshness of the emotions Wood was feeling.
It was at this party, she explains, that she saw Focus on the Family's television ad featuring Pam Tebow speaking about her son, quarterback Tim Tebow, and sharing the story of what she called her "miracle baby."
Wood was inspired to visit Focus on the Family's website and watch multiple videos until she could gather her courage and make contact with them through an e-mail. When she received their response, Wood found the strength to do what she truly wanted - to give birth to the human life growing inside of her.
Today, her daughter Avita is a four-year-old who loves frilly dresses, coloring books, and talking about Jesus.
