A Ugandan mother of 11 was, reportedly, killed by her in-laws poisoned for converting from Islam to Christianity.

The Morning Star News reports that Namumbeiza Swabura was killed last Wednesday after her sister-in-law offered to make a meal for her to eat.

Swabura and her husband, Mugoya Muhammad, had recently converted to Christianity, and those decisions did not settle well with the community and the families.

According to Muhammed, Swabura complained of a stomach aches before she started to vomit and suffer profuse nose bleeds. She died two hours later of poisoning by what The Morning Star News' source called "rat poison or Bromethalin.”

Swabura and Muhammed had been getting death threats for months leading up to the murder.

During an interview with The Morning Star News in May, Muhammed said, “We are fearing for our lives as the Muslims are threatening to kill us if we continue in Christianity.”

Muhammed used to be a sheik, or an Islamic teacher, before he converted to Christianity. Now, he has to raise 11 children, including a 5-month old, while receiving death threats for his conversion.

Muhammed's pastor, James Kalaja, has had his own run-in with Islamic revenge when his own daughter was raped because he is the public face of Christianity in the village.

“I only go to conduct Sunday service,” Kalaja said.

“Christians are facing threats here, and the Muslims would not like to see a church in Nabuli village. It is sad that we have just lost our sister. The Christians are shaken by her death. We have been praying for Muhammad due to several threatening messages that he has been receiving through his phone.”

The source believes that the sister-in-law was paid to commit the murder before she went into hiding.
