Back in October, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton addressed the people of St. Cloud at a “Community Conversation” on the state's refugee resettlement program. The event was hosted by the Central Minnesota NAACP.

Apparently, the governor did not like the questions.

In a video obtained by WJON AM radio, Dayton said this to some Somalian refugees in the crowd who claimed that they have faced discrimination in the community:

“This is Minnesota and you have every right to be here and anybody who can’t accept your right to be here should find another state, they really should go somewhere else.”

To date, the video has only received about 24,000 views on YouTube.

Some asked the governor about tax money being spent on refugees coming into Minnesota and the inevitability of them taking jobs away from native Minnesotans. The Governor said that there were 97,000 jobs available in the state, so the refugees would help fill the void of the vacancies. However, Dayton did not respond to the portion of the question about spending the people’s tax money on the refugees.

When asked about Minnesota’s growing achievement gap by former school board candidate Hassan Yussef, Dayton had this to say:

“The Minnesota achievement gap is a disgrace and unacceptable. Part of it is because we have an influx of people from other states and countries who don’t have the same educational background and only one percent of our teachers are African American, which is unacceptable.”
