Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly are highly divided on whether the “Draw Muhammad” cartoon contest crossed the line. O’Reilly said that “insulting the entire Muslim world is stupid” - Megyn Kelly is standing by her belief that it was the American Freedom Defense Initiative’s freedom of speech to do so.
Kelly said that the reason the First Amendment was written was not to protect popular speech, but to protect “the most outrageous, offensive, incendiary speech.” O’Reilly then said that “it’s always cause and effect… This is what happens when you light the fuse, you get violence.” Kelly was surprised to hear and proceeded to tell O’Reilly that it sounds like he is “attacking the event itself.”

In another segment, guest Richard Fowler told Kelly he agreed with O’Reilly that what the American Freedom Defense Initiative did was offensive. Kelly argued that the the American Freedom Defense Initiative's message is promoting free speech.
