It’s a bold gesture, but it’s one that never should have had to happen.

Per a report from Cincinnati-based WCPO-TV, at Indiana’s East Central High School, 17-year-old Cameron Blasek said he was pulled into the office and told by school administrators to remove a symbol from his truck. Blasek respectfully pointed out that there was no policy in the student handbook against displaying this symbol, yet school administrators still wrote him up.

The next day, however, nearly two dozen students showed up displaying that same symbol in support of their classmate.

What was the symbol, you might ask? Was it a “pride” flag? A political slogan? An obscene logo?

No - it was the American flag.

The next day, rows and rows of others students' trucks lined the school parking lot, all sporting giant American flags. In response, the principal quickly backtracked, issuing a statement to students and their parents letting them know the school would be allowing American flag displays after all.

When the flag of our nation is viewed with so much contempt in schools, it’s evident that the education system has lost its way.
