Man Kills Roommate After Tweeting Out Death Threat

Zachary Penton, a 21-year-old from Gilbert, AZ, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his roommate Sunday night.

Authorities say that a fight led to the shooting.

What makes the case all the more bizarre is that it appears that Penton tweeted a warning that he was going to murder his roommates if he wasn’t able to move out of his apartment a day prior to the murder.

While police say they cannot confirm the Twitter account belongs to Penton, they say they are “looking into the possibility."

Turns out, if the account does belong to Penton, he was serious.

A day after the tweet, ABC News in Arizona reported that Penton would have made good on the threat, shooting and killing at least one of his roommates.

A few days earlier, Penton had allegedly posted a tweet saying that he needed some 9mm ammo. It is unclear if the request was related to the shooting.
