After President Trump announced his intention to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate accord, landmarks across the world lit up green to show their support for the agreement.

In Washington D.C., the Wilson Building, the building for the mayor's office and the Council of the District of Columbia, lit up green, writing that leaving the Paris agreement "may make us see red & feel blue":

In Boston, Mayor Marty Walsh announced City Hall was lit up green, saying city “stands with the environment” and that “[w]e must protect our future”:

New York City Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order calling for the One World Trade Center and Kosciuszko Bridge to be lit up to show support for the Paris accords. According to the executive order, Cuomo wrote that New York be upholding the goals set in the Paris climate agreement, along with the governors of California and Washington.

Abroad, buildings were also lit up green in response to Trump's move to leave the Paris climate accord.

Mexico City allegedly lit up green:

Montreal mayor Denis Coderre lit up city hall and wrote, in French, “Climate change exists!”

And, finally, Paris itself lit up green. Mayor Anne Hidalgo said, “Regardless of # Trump 's decision, cities will apply # ParisAgreement .”

According to the European Commission’s website, the Paris accord was an agreement between 195 countries to take specific actions in order to reduce global warming to “well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.”
