Just how much money is Hillary Clinton worth?

While the Democratic front runner wasted no time on Monday attacking the wealthy, the truth is that no one is exactly sure what Clinton's net worth actually is.

In 2014 Clinton claimed that she and her husband were "dead broke" and swimming in debt after leaving the White House.

While it appears that the former first family's finances have rebounded since then  it is unclear just how well the former First Lady has fared in terms of her economic well-being.

In 2012, the last year in which Hillary disclosed her finances, her net worth was estimated to be between $5 million and $50 million.

That same year OpenSecrets.org estimated that Clinton was worth $15,347,503.

The website Celebrity Net Worth lists her personal net worth at $21.5 million.

So, while it's pretty clear that Clinton isn't struggling to make ends meet, it is still unclear how lucrative her various speaking fees, investments and book deals have been for the candidate.

Last year, The Wall Street Journal estimated the combined net worth of Bill and Hillary Clinton to be roughly $55 Million.  But that given that the estimates of Hillary's wealth seem to be all over the map, it's impossible to say specifically how much the former Secretary of State herself is worth.

Regardless of what the actual dollar amount may be, it's a safe bet to say that Clinton falls into the 1-percenter category.  Perhaps, even in the top 1% of the 1-percenters.

But, as her campaign is expected to focus largely on income inequality, middle class wages and the typical type of class warfare tactics that the Democrats have been relying on in past election cycles, one would hope that Clinton's personal finances would be put under the media microscope at some point during the election cycle.
