Ice Cream moguls Jerry Greenfield and Ben Cohen, of Ben & Jerry’s fame, were among hundreds of liberal activists who were arrested at the U.S. Capitol building on Monday while protesting money in politics. The arrests occurred after protesters with the group “Democracy Spring” refused to vacate the steps of the U.S. Capitol after repeated warnings from police.

Democracy Spring's acts of civil disobedience are intended to bring attention to what supporters claim is the undue influence that big money has in our political system. But as it turns out, Ben and Jerry were protesting against an activity that they have been engaged in for years.

According to Open Secrets, a group that keeps track of political donations, the two millionaires gave at least $50,000 to Democratic politicians, PACs, and the Democratic Party during the 2012 election cycle.

They even started a campaign that year called “Get The Dough Out of Politics.”

Sounds like a double scoop of liberal hypocrisy to me.

Here’s some video of Cohen dancing while police take him into custody.

Ben and Jerry have both endorsed presidential candidate and fellow Vermonter Bernie Sanders.
