Gov. John Kasich to Suspend Presidential Campaign

A senior campaign advisor for GOP presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) reportedly told NBC News on Wednesday that Kasich plans to suspend his run for the Oval Office.

Kasich had planned to attend an event in Washington, but cancelled the appearance and has scheduled a news conference in his home state of Ohio for 5 p.m. Wednesday night.

The news comes the day after fellow GOP candidate Sen. Ted Cruz dropped out of the running for the White House.

This essentially leaves GOP frontrunner Donald Trump standing alone heading into the Republican National Convention in July. Trump ran away with the victory in the Indiana primary Tuesday night.
