After Donald Trump's recent comments regarding GOP rival Carly Fiorina's appearance sparked outrage across broadcast and social media, the real estate mogul sought to "clarify," saying that he was referring to Fiorina’s “persona,” not her looks.

During the second Republican presidential candidate debate on Wednesday, CNN's Jake Tapper asked Fiorina to say, in turn, what she thinks of Trump’s persona.

She offered the classiest response.

Instead of insulting her competitor, Ms. Fiorina replied coolly with the following statement:

“I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said.”

No doubt embarrassed, Trump chimed in:

“I think she’s got a beautiful face and I think she’s a beautiful woman.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Trump mocked Fiorina’s appearance, saying, “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?”

Prior to the CNN GOP debate on Wednesday, Fiorina simply said that Trump’s comments "speak for themselves."
