During an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday, Dr. Ben Carson said that homosexuality is a choice “because a lot of people who go into prison, go in straight – and when they come out, they are gay.”

On his radio show Friday morning, Glenn Beck offered the GOP hopeful a heavy-handed bout of criticism.

“Good-bye to his presidential career,” Glenn said. “It’s over. There’s no way to recover from that. That just sounds like a lunatic.”

Here’s the audio below:

Ben Carson has since apologized “unreservedly to all that were offended” by his comments on homosexuality.

"I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation,” he said.

“I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended."

While apologetic, Carson noted that the science is still murky on the issue:

"Some of our brightest minds have looked at this debate, and up until this point there have been no definitive studies that people are born into a specific sexuality.”
