Warner Bros. has announced that they have ceased the licensing for toys and replicas of the 1980s show The Dukes of Hazzard.

In a statement to Vulturea Warner Bros. spokesperson said, "We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories."

The focal point of the show has always been the orange 1969 Dodge Charger with the Confederate flag decal, named The General Lee after the General of the Armies of the Northern Virginia, Robert E. Lee.

The show takes place in rural Georgia, depicting moonshiners, not racists or members of the KKK.

Previously, there were rumors that the flag would be taken off the car for certain merchandising.

Ben Jones, who played Cooter Davenport, released a statement in 2012 expressing his anger in the rumor:

"More than 33 years since the show premiered on CBS-TV on Friday nights, Warner Bros. has issued a new and terribly insulting attack on the South, a region and a culture which Hollywood has trashed for decades. Some unnamed genius at the company feels that the flag is 'offensive to some' and therefore it has no business on a classic TV comedy about a bunch of good ol' boys and girls in the Southern mountains. This is a new level of "P.C." idiocy. I don't know about you, but I am tired of being insulted by morons.”

Jones was elected to two terms in the House of Representatives from Georgia's 4th district as a Democrat.

As the new debate over the Confederate flag has been raging, Jones has taken media requests for interviews from places like CNN.

During an interview with Ashleigh Banfield, Jones said:

"[White supremacy] is not a Southern sin. White supremacy is a sin. Racism is a sickness that goes on all over the world. This man doesn’t represent us. No one thinks it was not a terrible, horrible thing."
