A 19-year-old girl is asking strangers on the Internet for thousands of dollars to have her breasts removed because she feels as if she’s “gender neutral.” She says she is asking for donations because she is unable to leave her home because of her “mental health.”
Opi Baron, who lives in the United Kingdom, claims her size 30D breasts make her feel disgusted and ashamed.
“You are brought up and taught from a young age that there is only ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ and just two boxes that you can fit into, but that’s not the case,” she said.
“Instead of it being black or white, male or female, it’s like there are a whole range of shades in the middle which is where I am,” she explained.
Baron, who was “assigned female at birth,” now considers herself “non-binary.”
Baron currently wears a chest binder and unisex clothing in order to hide the fact that she is a woman.
Baron says she discovered she was non-binary because she was uncomfortable with her body at a young age, didn’t enjoy talking about make-up, and never wore dresses.
“I began to develop physically very early and I had very distinct feelings of disgust and shame,” she claims.
“The girls in my class were often very excited to be women, for bras and all of the other grown up girl things we were taught, but I found it extremely distressing,” she continued. “I was detached from the group of girls. They would be like ‘check out this lip gloss,' and I just wasn’t interested at all.”
Despite the option to live her life as a tomboy (as many girls have done before her and continue to do without claims or being trans or having gender dysphoria), Baron is instead opting to surgically change her body to fit her opinions on gender.
Baron, who works for the NHS, opened a GoFundMe page to raise £6,000 (approximately $8,700) for her “chest surgery.”
According to Baron’s GoFundMe, she is unable to leave her house “unassisted on a daily basis” due to her “mental health,” so she works from home.
Therefore, she is calling on strangers to donate so she can “progress in being who I am, physically.”
Baron claims, “this would mean a great advance in my quality of life."
So far, the GoFundMe has raised only £125 (approximately $180).
Despite not being anywhere near achieving her goal, Baron says, “I’m already excited to take the bandages off. I haven’t got my procedure secured and I’m already excited about the ‘after’ moments.”
Baron, a “pansexual,” says her boyfriend, Phill Abbott, is supportive of her decision to remove her breasts and live her life as her so-called true self as long as she’s “happy.”
