UPDATE: Terror Suspect Allegedly Shouts 'Allahu Akbar' Before Stabbing Flint Airport Police Officer

UPDATE 2:10 P.M. EST: 

The FBI issued a statement following the stabbing incident at the international airport in Flint, Mich., indicating that it's too early to determine whether it was an act of terror. 

According to the statement, the FBI is aware of reports that the suspect yelled “Allahu Akbar” before stabbing an airport police officer in the neck.

“We are aware of reports that the attacker made statements immediately prior to or while attacking the officer, but it is too early to determine the nature of these alleged statements or whether or not this was an act of terrorism,” the statement reads. “Based on the information that we have at this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident.”                                      

UPDATE 1:57 P.M. EST: 

The airport police officer stabbed by a man in Bishop International Airport in Flint, Mich., on Wednesday is in critical condition, according to Michigan State Police.

Lt. Jeff Neville was reportedly stabbed in the neck in a public terminal.

Various news outlets are reporting that the assailant yelled “Allahu Akbar” before stabbing the officer. Those reports have not been confirmed.

The suspect is in custody. The airport is now closed as the FBI leads an investigation into the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY: 

The FBI is leading an investigation into a stabbing at Bishop International Airport in Flint, Mich., on Wednesday.

An airport police officer was stabbed by a man in the back and neck in the main terminal of the airport Wednesday morning.

The suspect is currently in custody.

FBI Detroit field office spokesman Tim Wiley did not provide any details on the incident other than it being “an FBI-led scene at the moment.” 

Wiley would not confirm whether the stabbing was being investigated as a possible act of terrorism, despite media reports indicating otherwise.

The FBI is expected to brief reporters with more details within the next couple of hours.
