Today’s method of execution tends to be in the form of lethal injection using a concoction of lethal drugs. There are several other methods to execute someone, so let’s take a look at how long it takes for each method.
Lethal Injection which is used mostly these days, takes anywhere from five minutes to two hours.
Next, there is the gas chamber, which is the second-longest method and can take anywhere between ten to eighteen minutes to execute someone. Then, there is hanging, which takes anywhere from four to eleven minutes to execute someone with this method.
The electric chair is the next quickest, with it taking between two and fifteen minutes to execute someone. Finally, the two quickest methods - both of which take less than a minute - are a firing squad and the guillotine. These last two methods also have lower error rates than lethal injections.
