Coach Dawn Staley, of the NCAA women’s champion South Carolina Gamecocks, says men who identify as women should be allowed to play in the women’s division.

The coach of the undefeated team made the comment on Saturday after being asked about transgender athletes.

“If you’re a woman, you should play; if you consider yourself a woman, and you want to play sports, or vice-versa, you should be able to play. That’s my opinion.”

A reporter from Outkick asked her to clarify if she believes trans-men should be able to compete against women.

Staley replied, “That’s the question you want to ask, so I’ll give you that: Yes.”

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has banned transgender women from women’s competitions. The NCAA is facing legal action for allowing for biological men to compete in women's athletics.
