This is huge: Democrats say they will fund pro-life candidates in the upcoming 2018 election.

According to The Hill, "Democrats will not withhold financial support for candidates who oppose abortion rights," as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) told the publication that there would be "no litmus test" on abortion for 2018 candidates.

This is quite a shift from the Democratic Party of 2016, for whom "sexual and reproductive health and rights" were a part of the party platform. Just this past April, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez demanded that "every Democrat...should support a woman's right to make her own choices about her body."

The Democrats have quite a task ahead of them in 2018, needing to pick up at least 24 seats to regain control of the House -- a challenge that might have something to do with the DCCC's new stance.

Luján told The Hill, "As we look at candidates across the country, you need to make sure you have candidates that fit the district, you need to make sure you have candidates that fit the district, that can win these districts across America."

And America is becoming more and more pro-life. According to a recent Marist Poll, 81 percent of Americans favor restricting abortion after the first trimester.

Perhaps Democrats are starting to notice that a "party of abortion" may not resonate with the average American.
