We’ve seen some brutal attack ads in this heated election cycle, but nothing quite like this.

Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat running for Congress in New Jersey's 5th District against incumbent Republican Scott Garrett, recently released an ad featuring a grandma talking about certain things about Garrett that made her mad. And the video included some...colorful language.

I admit it: I laughed.

The ad starts like most attack ads, with a grandma in a park while kids can be heard in the background. She opens with “I just heard Scott Garrett is a Tea Party radical. He voted against equal pay for women."

And then, out of nowhere, drops an, “Are you f***ing kidding me?”

She then goes on to call a vote Garrett supposedly made against 9/11 responders as “total [expletive],” and ends with “Scott Garret pulled the wool over our eyes, and I’m f***ing mad about it.”

To round it out, Grandma turns around to a kid who runs into frame and simply said, “Oh, come on sweetie we gotta go now,” just like any sweet Grandma might say to her grandchild.

This ad was approved and paid for by Gottheimer. It was even tweeted out from his official profile earlier in the week.

While some might cry foul, I admit that I found the ad to be pretty humorous, combining the usual political-speak one would find in an attack ad with the rather jarring nature of hearing a grandma cussing.

The race for the New Jersey seat has heated up over the past few weeks, with Democrats looking to flip a seat they see as winnable. Garrett, a member of the Tea Party Caucus, got into some hot water when reports turned up that he refused to donate money to the National Republican Campaign Committee because the committee recruited and supported gay candidates.
