“Hypocrites. LA claims to be a sanctuary city. But when put to the test, they can't take it,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said Tuesday, reacting to news that the self-proclaimed “sanctuary” city of Los Angeles has approved plans to sue and launch a criminal probe against his state – for giving Los Angeles the chance to live up to its claim.

In his social media post, Gov. Abbott linked to a report that the Los Angeles city council voted to approve legal action against Texas:

“On Aug. 30, councilmembers endorsed a motion that requested the City Attorney’s Office to initiate an investigation into potential criminal actions by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, stemming from the transportation of 42 illegal immigrants on a 23-hour bus journey to downtown Los Angeles in June.”

Apparently, councilmembers are concerned about the illegal aliens’ “impact on the city” – but, not about their impact on Texas, which has been flooded with migrants, due to Pres. Joe Biden’s open-borders policy.

Councilmembers have raised concerns about the legality of the program and its impact on the city. The council voted to pursue legal action after the 11th busload of illegal immigrants arrived last week.

“Our busing mission provides critical relief to overwhelmed Texas border towns,” Gov. Abbott wrote, providing the latest counts of illegal aliens sent to cities that claim to welcome them:

“Texas has bused over 35,000 migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities.

  • Over 11,300 to DC
  • Over 13,300 to NYC
  • Over 6,700 to Chicago
  • Over 2,600 to Philadelphia
  • Over 1,000 to Denver
  • Over 480 to LA
